Welcome to Knitting Authority™!
Hi, I’m Emma Lane, founder of Knitting Authority™. My goal is to give you simple, easy-to-understand knitting advice that makes an impact.
Launched in 2018 as a community for knitters, designers, and fiber artists, this site is a quickly growing community of creatives from around the world!
If you love knitting, you’ll feel right at home here. Whether you just need tips to become a better knitter, advice on how to design your own knitwear, or expert guidance on how to turn your love of knitting into a profitable business – you’re in the right place.
Since you’re here right now, something tells me that you’re full of creativity, a love of yarn, and a desire to connect with people who can relate to what you’re trying to do.
No matter where you are in your knitting journey, you want to use your creative juices to make something that matters, to you and the world.
But maybe you aren’t sure how to make it happen.
I’ve been there.
I am here to help you transform your passion for knitting, no matter where you are on your path – just learning the basics or seeking to transform your hobby into a profitable (and popular) business.
I first learned to knit over 20 years ago from my grandmother. It started as a simple creative outlet for me (and a way for my grandmother to keep me out of her hair). I didn’t have any ambitions of designing or turning knitting into a full-time job. I wasn’t even aware it could be a full-time job!
But knitting soon became an obsession (along with my ever-growing yarn stash).
Fast forward to my graduating college, when I started blogging as a way to connect with other people. I wasn’t sharing my love of knitting at the time, but my site quickly took off. I eventually launched different creative projects through my blog, and I soon began doing it full-time.
I hustled, learning the ins-and-outs of marketing, design, and selling online. Before I knew it, I had a thriving business.
I was still knitting and designing as a creative outlet outside of my business. I began sharing my designs with other people, and I committed to trying different strategies and ideas to share my designs with the world.
Since then, I’ve moved on to knitting education – teaching people how to become better knitters, teaching aspiring designers how to transform their vision into reality, and teaching aspiring entrepreneurs how to grow their hobby into a business.
That’s why, at Knitting Authority, my mission is to provide you with a single place to get the help you need.
